    Went the other night with a group of friends, at first it seemed nothing special. The salad bar wasn't the greatest, although the raw fish options tasted great. The part that will blow you away is how fast the servers get to you, they are eager to cut you off a slice of their savory meats. Most of the steaks you can chose how you like it cooked, they will cut you a slice off or you can request it to be made a certain way. My favorite was the garlic steak by far, or the picanha.

    Have you ever been to a Brazilian Steakhouse? Well, this Is THE place to go! Amazing food, service and atmosphere! The staff are very welcoming and willing to help with whatever questions you may have. Looking for a special drink? Be sure to try caipirinhas! Ah, don't forget the mushroom risotto! One of the best!!!!

    My mouth began to water even before I entered; I was thinking about the meal ahead. To be clear, I am specifically referring to the salad bar and sides and not necessarily to the main attraction: rotisserie beef, pork and chicken. For lunch, the salad bar has limited offerings but when you are addicted to the apple salad and fill half your plate with that, there really is no need for anything else. As information, some other delicious items from the all-you-can-eat salad bar are: mushroom risotto, cheese tortellini, crab salad on cucumber, and fresh mozzarella cheese. While I pile on some items from the salad bar, I do leave room for the rotisserie meat. As you are enjoying your salad, gauchos (servers with large skewers of meat) stop by your table and offer you different cuts of meat that they carve in front of you. Perhaps it was early for lunch but I found that there was a delay in service. The portions tend to be small, which is okay because there are so many choices to try. On this occasion, I tried bites of sausage, lamb, chicken and several cuts of beef. I liked the Picanha and the Alcatra but found the lamb to be entirely too gamey. I am usually good at remembering tastes and textures but after a while, the skewers become a blur. I personally found the food to be over-seasoned, others did not agree. Besides the apple salad, the best parts of the meal were the gougeres and fried bananas. I can and have gorged on baskets of these delicious cheese puffs and always have seconds and maybe thirds of the fried banana. Both are amazing by themselves but serve to cleanse our palate between flavors. Dual purpose. I like that. The mashed potatoes were bland (or maybe my taste buds had gone into hiding after salt overload) and were not worth the calories. While the salad bar and meats were all-you-can-eat (rodizio-style $23 for lunch), desserts and drinks are extra. After such a large lunch, even a person with a sweet tooth as large as mine could not find room for a bit of chocolate cake or creamy custard. Service was average - not exceptional, not poor.

    Cheesey poofs and beef rib- what more do you want? Every review compares this place to Fogo, and having only been to Gauche once I would say it is close to as good as the average Fogo experience but slightly behind. I have been to several different Fogos and the quality can obviously vary, but a great Fogo beats Gaucho in a few categories -Service/Authenticity- at Fogo the meat usually comes around in pretty rapid fire progress so that my plate is overflowing. Service at Gaucho was definitely a bit slower but not terrible. Fogo generally also has more authentic Brazilians working there who know the food. Our waitress at Gaucho didn't know what gurana was, or several of the other "off menu" sides they had available, and the Gauchos themselves could of used some training on how to slice the meat (portions) and how to do so without spraying meat juice all over the customers ( although for me that was a plus). -Salad bar- I would say roughly 70% of the items in a Fogo salad bar are available at Guacho, and most are 80-90% of the quality. -Meats- the top sirloin and ribeye at Gaucho were much worse than Fogo. Most of the other meats were pretty comparable. -No Limeaid. This is a huge negative- after stuffing yourself with meat drinking about 10 limeaids is crucial to up your stomach acidity and prevent puking. Without the limeaid your only option is to limit your consumption - and dammit this is America!

    The service was very good and the meats were awesome. Great variety and wonderful flavors. I have seen some posts that the spice was too heavy. I do not agree with that assessment. I will come back and will recommend Gaucho steakhouse to my friends.

    I was hopeful that we would really enjoy dinner here because Texas de Brazil is one of our favorite places. Sadly, Gaucho just doesn't stack up. The meats were just OK, but many just didn't have a lot of flavor and the cooking temperature was all over the place. I was happy they had shrimp skewers, but the shrimp was overcooked and caked with lemon pepper. The lobster bisque tasted like roasted red pepper soup and had no shellfish flavor. The rest of the "hot items" (tortellini, risotto) were similarly middle of the road, lacking any unique flavor that would make me want to come back for more. The only items that I thought were truly excellent during the main course were the seared tuna and salmon with eel sauce. The price tag was also higher than Texas de Brazil, which was disappointing and unexpected. And, our waitress appeared to take frequent smoke breaks resulting in an overwhelming smoke smell near our table for most of the night. I will say that the evening ended on a high note during dessert, because the tiramisu was outstanding. The lava cake, not so much. But the tiramisu, oh the tiramisu....

    1 star is a stretch! Guess I went here expecting a Texas DeBrazil experience & it was not even close! Meat was nothing special & Ruby Tuesday has a much better salad bar for a lot less! Advice: "If you even like Gauchos a little, you will "LOVE" Texas DeBrazil!!! I made 2 trips in 1, my 1st & last! SORRY :-(

    I have been to Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao and for me, Gaucho beats them! I love the home made salad bar , everything always taste fresh and delicious , I love the mashed potatoes and fried bananas , oh and the profiteroles, they melt in your mouth ,, I also love the Gaucho servers , they are always friendly and right there with the meats , which are all delicious !! I love it here! Oh and the atmosphere is lovely , it's classy, relaxing, inviting with a romantic touch,

    Went for dinner with a group of friends for ladies night out. We had a blast. The food was amazing it was great to be able to try all sorts of various cuts of meat. Our server Tony was amazing. He had lots of personality which made the whole experience so much better for our group.i would highly recommend the garlic sirloin so good and the cheese cake is to die for. I had never had friend banana before either.... So good! Will be back for sure!

    Decided on this place for our anniversary and we both enjoyed it. It was our first time going and the server welcomed us greatly. The cold buffet has more than a few options but the main attraction takes the cake. Skewers were constantly in motion though we barely saw any shrimp, sausage or lamb chops. Later on it got crowded and we were almost ignored until it was time to pay. It was still a good experience and something to try if you haven't been to a Brazilian steakhouse.

    Not a fan... Have been to many Brazilian steakhouses and this one just doesn't cut it. 1. Salad bar was severely suboptimal for a typical Brailian Steakhouse (not to mention the $$). 2. Took forever to get cuts of meat and when you did, it was the same cuts over and over again. 3. The waiter automatically added on a 20% tip to the bill which I felt was presumptuous and rude, especially since we were a small party of 5. Once the bill was ran, there was an additional spot for "tip" before signing which I thought was extremely sneaky, if you've had a dee drinks or were having a good time not paying attention-it would've been way too easy to double the tip which I believe was a big part of the intention here. For the same amount of money, I highly recommend Texas De Brazil in Detroit-10 times better experience and food.

    We went with a group and the men loved this place because they are meat lovers. They were able to eat to their hearts content and were in meat paradise. Service was excellent. Personally, this isn't my type of place because I don't eat much meat. It is a bit pricey. It's ideal if you want to feast big. Be sure to go hungry!

    Absolutely not worth the hype. I've been to a couple steakhouses of this kind in Chicago, but Gaucho does to compare. The buffet bar offers nothing worth mentioning, I only was able to select a few items for my plate. The meats I hoped would be the highlight, but they were not tasty. I could't put my finger on it as to why, just seemed like bad quality meat (maybe old or frozen unfrozen one too many times so that you can taste it) with average preparation.

    The food is amazing. The staff is very professional. I used to go here all the time when I lived in Michigan, but I always make sure to stop by every time I visit. Make sure to make a reservation as they are always packed!

    Came for lunch. Good meat selection and nice salad bar. Beef cuts were delicious - but the service slowed down a lot after first few rounds. Had to ask repeatedly to get the specific cuts of beef back in circulation. My son and our guest from out of town liked the novelty of Gaucho Steakhouse.

    I don't even know where to begin with this place. The entire experience was awful. My boyfriend, my son and myself went in around 6 on Saturday. The place was pretty empty and we were seated immediately in the corner of the dining room. Our waitress was weird. She was lacking the social skills needed to deal with customers. She just kind of looked at us. Although we are familiar with the way the Brazilian steakhouse works, it would've been nice for her to ask us what we wanted to drink or direct us to the salad bar. It was very awkward. More on that subject later. We asked for 3 cokes then headed over to the salad bar. What a bummer! It was very small and disappointing. The food looked sparse and as if it had been sitting there for a while. Nothing to me was excellent in any sort of way. My boyfriend did enjoy the Ahi Tuna but that was it. He was very excited to try the Lobster Bisque only to leave most of it in the bowl. He said it was terrible. We basically just picked at our plates. After a few minutes they began to bring meat around. We tried almost all of them. They were terrible. I'm a steak kind of girl. The more meat the better in my opinion so it takes a lot for me to dislike any cut of meat. Everything I tried was lacking quality and flavor. The more pieces I tried, the more disgusted I became. Now let me go back to the service. First of all after our drinks were brought to us our waitress disappeared. We did not see her again until we were finished eating. We did have another person bring us soda refills. I think he may have been a manager but I'm not sure. When we told her we were ready for the bill she brought it to us and again disappeared. We sat there around 20-25 minutes waiting for her to come back and run our card. Finally my boyfriend flagged down another waiter and explained nicely that we had been waiting to pay and leave. He acted very annoyed and reluctantly took our card. We paid and left, passing our waitress chatting with the hostess at the front. Quality service right there folks. We will never return here. I've read the other reviews on Yelp and they are in line with our experience. I see someone from Gaucho has responded to some of the reviews and is constantly trying to defend the place. News flash: if there are this many people complaining about the same things maybe you should take it into consideration! He kept saying Texas De Brazil has a two star rating but that is simply untrue. The are currently at a four and for good reason. We've been to the Detroit, Chicago and Orlando locations and have always thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were expecting the same quality with Gaucho and they were extremely disappointing. If they would work on their customer service and tweak their food the place would be worth it, sadly they don't and it isn't.

    This place is just okay. It definitely does not live up to Teaxs de Brazil standards. The salad bar is very mediocre and the gauchos are rarely seen. Their meat is just okay, but nothing spectacular. Don't waste your time or money go to Texas de Brazil!

    Went there NYE we had reservations for 9pm but they were very dis organized, finally being seated closer to 10 then one of the hostess had her family party there with their kids running around mind you I'm not opposed to kids but for what I'm spending for dinner keep them at your table. As for the food it was ok the salad bar was ok the Seared Tuna was good,the salmon tasted old and fishy. Their signature beef was ok a little over done for my taste even though I asked for medium rare it was more medium well the same with the ribeye. The bacon wrapped chicken would have been good if the chicken wasn't over cooked, the shrimp was rubbery and over spiced and the pork roast was a little dry. The lamb was a little over done as well. I would of liked to try some of the other 17 meats but it seemed they only had the base 6.

    Went here today for lunch and it's a pleasant place to have lunch or dinner at. All different types varieties of meat you can choose from and fresh! I believe for fifty per person you better go in there empty stomach. I have a weakness for their amazing salad bar. Literally i spent fifty on veggies and barely had room left for their meat. It's a nice place to go to and very similar to Texas De Brazil which is way closer then downtown.

    First time. This was a fun dining experience overall because of the gauchos. Our server was really not into being there and didn't pay much attention to us. Also, I should have listened to other reviewers who said the food was over seasoned. There were perhaps two of the meat skewer items which weren't that bad, but it was all just too much for my palette. I think there are lot of people who will really like this level of seasoning, my dining partner was one, but if you prefer a subtler flavor blend for your food then this place will quickly overwhelm your taste buds. I ended up ordering coffee as a palette cleanser and ate far too many cheesy puffs (amazing!) in between tastings to help me deal with the overwhelming garlic. I think it's far too pricey for what you get. Would much rather drop $50 at Roast for a wonderful filet mignon dinner.

    Its a nice place, unique, something that you should at least try, assuming you are not a vegetarian. Bring your credit card, it will run $50 per person for dinner. So its an upscale "All you can eat", with waiters "Gaucho's" walking by your table every 2-3 minutes with a another cut of roasted meat. The meats go from Beef sirloins to Lamb chops, to Pork sausages to shrimp, to chicken breast and filet mignon bites wrap in bacon - 14-17 selections. There is also an upscale salad bar, with seared tuna and salmon, seafood chowder, risotto and assorted cheeses - this is no Big Boys. Because of the price, I sort of felt I need to get my money worth, at least sampling most of the meat options. I felt the Lamb options where the best, and the chicken thigh, the beef options were a little to salty. We also sample many of the salad bar offerings - I could have made meal just out of the salad bar. So this a quality place, but I've experienced it. It was worth trying it. But its not a place I would go back to with out it being a special occasion. I'm not sure I like having that overly stuff feeling.

    I've only been here at lunch time. Dinner prices are about double, but they do have a few extra items available. I like the fact that it's all you can eat, even at lunch. The atmosphere of the place is fun and authentic with the gauchos in full dress. There is also an indoor waterfall which is rather cool. The meat selections are plentiful and there should be something for everyone who loves meat. My favorites are the Pincanha and the Top Sirloin. I also like the garlic steak and the bacon wrapped filets. I don't like bananas, so I don't eat their fried bananas, but a friend of mine does and he loves them. Supposedly they're for cleansing your palate after each type of meat. Their garlic mashed potatoes are quite tasty. I also like their mushroom risotto. The prices are kind of high, so it's not some place I would go on a regular basis, but it's fun to do once in a while. Lunch is about $33 per person with tax and tip included.

    Texas de Brazil was booked and I wanted to take my husband out for Sweetest Day. I found this place (closer to us) and decided to give it a try. Our table was too close to another table and was quite disruptive due to children being unruly. The meats were dry and the salad bar was just okay. More expensive than TDB and everything was just mediocre. Service wasn't that great and we found our waiter to be kind of pompous. He brought us the wrong beer and charged us for the one we wanted though we never got it. Needless to say we probably won't be back.

    Endless delicious servings of meat? Yes please!! For a reasonable sum, enjoy as much meat and salad bar servings your gullet can endure! Go hungry and don't be shy with the "gauchos" who carve your selected meats right at your table. Lunches are very affordable at $20 per person. Dinners are $45 a person but includes shrimp, lobster bisque, ahi tuna, salmon and crazy delicious Brazilian bacon that's to die for. Go there Monday thru Thursday for minimal crowds. Any other times will require reservations. Bring your friends, kids, family. Anyone will enjoy Gaucho!

    We have dined at Gauchos many times, however, one time we arrived in the evening and the meat was dry and tough. Today we are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and my husband suggested Gauchos... i was leary after our past evening experience, however, we felt it might have been an off night for them and decided to return. Upon entering Gauchos, we did ask if they still had freshly cooked rare meat, the gentleman checked and assured us they would be serving us freshly cooked meat. We were pleased, and seated, however, the apparent female assistant manager approached our waiter to inquire about our request and in a very loud voice, as we were seated near by, stated "Are you kidding me??!!". Needless to say, we felt very unwelcome and explained to our waiter that upon over hearing that conversation we no longer felt welcome there and would be leaving. A guest arriving one hour before closing should be treated the same as a guest arriving at 5pm with no concern that the meal will be fresh and we will not feel rushed. We left and drove across the street to Andiamo's where we were greeted by a very friendly hostess and our amazing waitress turned an unpleasant experience into a memorable dining experience.

    My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day. It was our first time going, but we had heard wonderful things about it from his coworkers and had been planning on trying it eventually. My boyfriend made 3pm reservations, and when we arrived at 2:45, we were seated right away. I didn't care for our table placement, as we were right where the kitchen exit was and it felt like we were in the way. Many people bumped into my purse hanging off my chair. Also the table was wobbly. 90% of the food was really delicious, although we only got to try about 8 or 9 of the meats. The gauchos did not circulate the greatest and many of the selections never got to us. The other 10% was way over seasoned (ribs especially) and we didn't care for it. The mashed potatoes were to die for, as was the cheese bread! Our waiter was okay, he stopped twice to check on us within the 2.5 hours we were there, but he seemed like he was in a rush. However, it was Valentine's Day and the place was packed, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Our bill came to $125 for the two of us. We got the salad bar and the meats, but no drinks or desserts; only water. When my boyfriend called in advance to reserve a table, he was told it was going to be much less than that, but oh well. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny at this place! We will be back for our anniversary in a couple months to see what it's like on a normal day, as opposed to a holiday. We really did enjoy the unique experience and most of the meats we tried.

    Pricey around dinner time, but sign up for their email newsletters & follow their facebook page for the occasional deal! The salad bar seems to have been downsized over the years, but everything was fresh & delicious when I went. The real focus should be on the meats, anyway. I thought the lamb wasn't anything special, but anything with garlic & the bacon-wrapped filet mignon were great! But not being a huge meat-lover, the best part of my meal was the sides... Their pão de queijo was life-changing with a delightful butteriness, and I can't get them out of my head. Seriously, I have been daydreaming about them for days. The banana frita was also hugely addictive, and I will continue to lie to myself about it being okay that I ate so many because bananas count towards my daily fruit intake. The guaraná soda (Antarctica) was also refreshing, tasty, and different! Hope I can find it in a store somewhere in Ann Arbor. Oh, and some of the waiters are pretty nice to look at. ;D (That wasn't creepy at all...) In any case, they were all quite friendly & accommodating. Definitely a fan and hope to return in the near future!

    I've been to Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil, and found this place to be similar in quality, ambiance, and price. Good quality meats, the beauty of this dining style is that you can try a little bit of everything. We encountered some skewers that look / taste overcooked although this is not a consistent issue, so our solution is to patiently wait for the next round. Our first medium-rare Picanha was more like medium-well done, but the next round we got was almost perfect. Salad bar includes a good selection of vegetables, fish (delicately seared salmon and tuna), cheese, and pasta dishes. Service was attentive. You may need to wait a little longer for gauchos and the meat to come if the restaurant is close to be packed. Overall, it's a nice restaurant to go to if you don't mind being an extreme carnivore, at least for one meal.

    This was my first visit to gauchos and the experience was pleasantly surprising. The gauchos made the difference! They are dedicated. As one of them said he likes to over feed the patrons till they get the meat sweats! Premium cuts were brought to my table much more than cheaper cuts. My family will be back.

    DO NOT make a reservation for two people. If your party is only two people make your reservation for four. Our reservation was for 6 and the place was packed with people waiting. 630 came around and it was empty. I asked the hostess if she knew we our reservation was for six and she said no. Then I asked if the issue was the two person table and she said yes. The experience was almost enough to keep me from staying but i love the food.

    Gauchos is something else, it is truly amazing, everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The variety of meats that come to your table is experience in it's self. I loved it. I personally loved the beef ribs, it was melt in your tender and was seasoned to perfection. I also enjoyed the steak wrapped in bacon and the chicken wrapped in bacon! It was outstanding, it may be expensive but well worth it.

    NYE, one of the hostess had their very large family dining there so she spent a lot of time visiting and allowing a half dozen little ones run around. The floors are super slippery so careful if you wear heels. As for the food itself it was just ok, some things were outstanding (cold bar options, except salmon which tasted like it was going bad), to some of the meats, which were not outstanding. The shrimp was rubbery and over seasoned, neither the filet nor lamb chops came around even though they were requested and both the chicken and pork were very dry. Glad we tried the experience but would be hard pressed to pay that amount a second time. FYI, we did know the amount going in.

    I have really tried to like this steak house, I have been a VIP member here for two years now and I met the owner at a Macy's event at Somerset Collection as well as her son at another event they were really nice. But the level of service always leave much to be desired alas I have arrived at my final straw with this establishment. My cousin and I were regulars here (multiple visits monthly) and brought several family members and friends to Gauchos as well. My cousin decided to have her 50th birthday dinner at Gauchos which was a group of 16 Adults and 6 children. Our waiter Fred was as responsive as possible but I feel he should have have someone helping him with such a large party. Because I am fasting for lent I only had the bar with shrimp and I was looking forward to the lobster bisque due to my limited diet and was met with watery tomato slurry with no flavor, when I told the salad bar attendant about the quality of the lobster bisque he stated that "the OWNER told him to start watering it down because she did not when the chefs made it thick, I have noticed that several other reviews have noted that they experienced this same tomato slurry on their visits as well and I saw a response from the owner touting that only gauchos and Texas de Brazil serve lobster bisque and that Texas de Brazil "uses crab in their lobster bisque" if this is true at least some effort was placed in adding seafood into the soup, and Gauchos description of Texas de Brazil salad bar sounds good, thanks for the referral to head over there. Another issue is the staff was never informed when VIP specials were being offered and I was always charged a higher price for lunch or dinner when I presented my VIP card unless I said you sent a email saying lunch is $19.99 or dinner is $34.00 or Your email stated you are offering free drink and or dessert to VIP's. We also clearly had several elderly (senior) persons in our party but were they charged or offered the discount price of $32.99 advertised on the Gauchos website No! they were all charged full price. I have been in on multiple occasions with parties of 2-6 and service was slow or we were completely ignored. On yesterdays visit my sister who was also a regular told our waiter Fred that she had no meat service beside lamb chop and shrimp and he told her "well those are expensive cuts of meat so you should happy with that" members of our party had to literally keep begging for the type of meat they wanted. For the price of $50 plus 20% gratuity and the service NEVER EVER AGAIN!

    Never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before, but... Willing to try the Texas de Brazil restaurant downtown Detroit. Only because I would like to compare the style of presenting the items, and amount of food a person gets for the price. I will be totally honest and say that I was SHOCKED at how much we spent!! We saw children as young as 7 or 8 there, and the place was PACKED, so it was very misleading for us to think that we really would not pay a lot.. So, how much was our bill you ask? Well, for 2 Caprihani's (sp.) a piece, and the "all you can eat" option, we spent well over $150!! Although this did not break our pocket, we were very surprised. It's not like the prices are printed for one to know how much it is; also, some of the meat (ex: the pork, chicken, and sausage) were dry and not that great tasting to me.. Can not say that we will never return, just next time we know what we're up for.

    I have been to several Brazilian steakhouses in the country and I love them. This was by far the worst experience of the bunch. For the price of 50 plus dollars a head, I much rather would have gone somewhere else. The salad bar is less than impressive. The veggies were sub par. The soups didn't stand out. Everything was ok, but that was just the problem; It was just ok. Next up the food. All the meats were over done. If you like well done meats you will be loving it, but I find most people like to start at medium and go up or down from there. The cuts that were not overcooked were rather good but that was few and far between. I found myself building a stockpile of sub par meat scraps on my plate until finally a server brought fresh plates. We asked for filet med-rare and the server was nice enough to have the cooks make up a special skewer. Again, when cooked properly the meats were very good. You would think the service would make up for the lack of quality food but that is where it got weird. For the first 45 minutes service was great. Exactly what you would want out of a quality restaurant. After we finished with food and turned our cards red, literally our head waiter disappeared. We sat with dirty plates and no service in front of us for 30 minutes. Keep in mind we were one of 5 tables in the restaurant. The place was dead. We weren't in a rush or anything but it was a major turn off. It went from conversation about desserts to no thanks. I haven't been to the Texas de Brazil in Detroit but I have been to other locations and its always been fantastic. If you are in the mood I really suggest you make the drive. The problem was the wilted and old vegetables you served in your salad bar, Since you want to make texas de brazil as your focal point I will point out that all the times I have been there the quality has been impeccable. So you have a lot of product? If none of it is good I am not going to be impressed with the quantity. As far as the meats, all the meats were overcooked and once I asked for meat to be done a certain way I got it and indeed it was good. I received that at the end of the meal. Again texas de brazil prepares their meats perfectly inline with how a Michelin star chef would prepare it. As far as the service, I am paying 50 dollars a plate and you want me to ask for the servers to serve me? A fresh plate is over bearing? And you expect me to believe a red card is an excuse for a server to ignore the table for 30 plus minutes? Your argument in this area is poor at best. Ive been to Texas de brazil 20 plus times all over the country and they kill you. Rios also kills you. Maybe focus a bit more on the quality of the product and the customer service and you will no longer have to troll yelp.

    Ate there for the first time last night. The salad bar was very good though had limited selection compared to other restaurants of this type. The cured meats and seared tuna were excellent. I was disappointed in several of the meats brought to the table. The lamb shank was over cooked and so dry it was literally hard and the baby back ribs were also over cooked and inedible. Most of the beef choices were quite good although all had too much salt. Not many meat choices and no cheese balls as standard in Brazil We had a nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price

    i am vegetarian, so i didn't expect an amazing meal, but i will say the salad bar was inferior to ruby tuesdays. a number of the items on the salad bar were not suitable for vegetarians. The service was good, and they were very attentive, but the quality of the food was mediocre and not worth the price.

    Food is awesome, presentation is great, wait times were ridiculous! It started out great and fast but then our party of 16 literally sat for over an hour without any server attention. A beer took 45 mins. Dessert took another half hour after we ordered it. Our party jokingly decided to flip all of our cards over to green to see if that would get us attention, but no... nothing. It was like being chained inside a restaurant, held hostage because we couldn't even get our checks. Painful. :/

    I was there on Friday 4-11-2014. I have been there before and the place always good, but not compared to fogo de chao, or Texas de Brazil. I read the reviews on yelp and was hesitant to go and take my customers there. I took the chance and have the place a try. The service was good, salad bar is fine too (Texas de Brazil much better). The meat is great and they will bring any meat they have Multi times and were friendly. I would go again for sure as I was not sure why ppl rated them low before.

    Plan to come hungry. Nibble at the salad bar to ensure you have enough room for all meat and shrimp you'll be devouring. One price for all you can eat. Lunch is way cheaper than dinner, so give that some thought as well. Friendly staff who are more than happy to walk you through your first-time experience.

    I wish I could give negative stars for this place. I have been to Brazilian steakhouses all over the country (we move and travel a lot). This is the second worst one I have ever had the displeasure to visit. The worst was a place that is now closed in Falls Church, VA. We went with a group of 6 and got shoved into an aisle with an extra table sticking out into the walkway. The service was terrible!!! We maybe got one refill of the drinks in over 2 hours. My father-in-law got so frustrated he started walking to the bar to get drinks and bring them back. You are supposed to have side dishes, such as fried bananas, but they never came. We asked 4 times and never got them all, just a couple of rolls that came around dessert time. The meat wasn't that great and you had to wait a long time for it. They tend to be very slow to bring around the better meats. Salad bar was half empty most of the night. The final insult was asking for the bill, waiting 20 minutes, then asking another server for it so we could leave. It finally came, had one extra dinner charged and a 20% or 22% service fee (I can't remember the total but it was outrageous nonetheless). Another 15 minutes to get the extra dinner removed and we finally got out the door. Almost $500 for 6 people and I would have been better treated at a Ponderosa or Sizzler. I recommend you save the money and go elsewhere. No idea why they get high rating unless people in MI just love the all you can eat stuff.

    If there is a God, then this is heaven. Except, instead of streets paved in gold, it streets paved in delicious meats that are paraded in front of you until you have some sort of meat-gasm. My husband and I have been dying to make it out to a Brazilian steakhouse and I got a random $100 bonus at work so we thought we'd dedicate that entire bonus to MEAT. The dinner was amazing. I honestly can't say enough about the ambiance, service, selection, salad bar and quality of the food. Each variety of meat was spectacular and everything was great. While it's all sort of a blur at this point, I think I had top sirloin, rib eye, filet mignon, bacon-wrapped chicken, leg of lamb, lamb chops, Portuguese Sausage (Linguicia) and probably lots of other things. I was least impressed with the lamb portions, but all in all everything was very flavorful and robust. I will agree with Rebecca T and say that everything was very well-salted, but I'm a salt whore so I was in heaven. My husband is a big fan of Linguicia and we were waiting for it to stroll by, so I asked one of the Gauchos and he perked up and happily made it the next round. I think he was impressed that we knew it by name, rather than Portuguese Sausage, and he gave us extra-good service after that. The salad bar, I thought, was really well-done. Classy. My husband felt it tried too hard and wasn't executed well. Either way, DON'T fill up on salad and bread - save yourself for the meat parade. We barely touched the fried bananas and garlic mashed potatoes, even though they were delightful, because the meat is just that good. I couldn't help but notice that the servers, gauchos and manager all spoke with some sort of latin/spanish/portuguese accent - I found this to be really cool, and gave the restaurant a sense of authenticity. The strange part was that after our second round of meat my husband and I found ourselves giggling and carrying on like children - I can't decide if we're just THAT into meat and were giddy with joy, or if we seriously were having meat-gasms. I honestly can't wait to go back. I'd go back tonight if possible. You MUST go.

    This place is really 41/2 stars. Everything is great here, the meats, salad bar, etc. We went with a birthday coupon where they give you a bottle of wine (house) and pudim (not bad, an acquired taste in my opinion). Now the question is why i didn't give it 5 stars? Well with a place like this, i find it hard not to compare it with Texas de Brazil. There is only 4 things gaucho has better than Texas de Brazil: Parking, cheese bread, Lamb Chops, and Chicken legs. That's 4 out of about 75 items and prices. I do recommend trying it because it is something different and it is good. But if you want a bigger salad and soup bar, more meat selection, better meat, cheaper prices (by like $5), and a free meal on your birthday, than Texas de Brazil is the way to go.

    Does this place belong to one of the Marx Brothers, Goucho? Oh sorry, that's Groucho. Just don't go to this place in a groucho kind of mood. Go hungry, go happy. SKIP lunch before you go. Food coma time! Don't forget to turn over your "No Thanks" button. This is the kind of place to go if you're in the mood for meat and maybe some potatoes, and maybeee whatever else they have like fried bananas. The salad bar is also a mini meat bar, with salami, prosciutto, cheese,smoked salmon and of course a few vegetables(skip)...Not your traditional salad bar but at least check it out. I liked the garlic steak(six helpings), filet mignon, beef ribs, pork ribs, brazilian sausage(tasted kinda like a cross between kilbasa and italian sausage). Throw all this in with a Brazilian Lite Beer, smooth. Just don't get so comatized on meat that you forget to leave a tip. Went here with my best friend birthday buddy, it was my birthday. Let them know and they'll give you a delicious chocolate mousse. Oh, the desserts are fobuloos.

    My girlfriend and I went here last week and enjoyed it. The "all-you-can-eat" meat selection was very good, and very filling. I tried a number of items from the salad bar and they were all tasty. The meat itself was all very tasteful and plentiful. The service was great and we never had to wait for more food to be brought to us. The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5 star is the price. It is a little pricey, almost $50 per person, and I'm not sure I ate $50 worth of food. All in all it is a nice place with good atmosphere and service.

    Thanksgiving at Gauchos.... Well after being a fan of other national chain Brazilian steak houses we gave gauchos a try Seating was. Prompt and we started with the salad bar..the selection was average with sweet potatoes on the bar due to the occasion being runny ....turkey cubed in gravy also, which looked like cat food, but you would expect more for 45 bucks Lets talk beef 40 minutes before filet ever came around and it was terribly over cooked This occurred repeatedly. With the meat being way over done or still "Mooing". We saw the filet 2 times only in 90 minutes No bacon wrapped filet Lamp chops 1 time This occurred repeatedly.     This was a fun experience and the food was good. However, after 2 meals, 1 glass of wine and 2 spiked coffees, our bill was almost $120. While the meat was good and plentiful, the experience was a little overwhelming. The food came out really fast. We did not want to turn our 'red/green' disk over since we were waiting on particular items (shrimp and sausage) and we did not want to miss them. The wait staff was courteous, the restaurant was beautiful and the food was good. However, it was a little pricey. I might save this location for once a year or special occasions.

    A quick synopsis of our visit: Absolutely the place to go to fill up on meat.....unless you're on a budget. Excellent setting for a date night. Certain meats were delicious (Picanha, Top Sirloin), others tasted like something from Denny's (sausages, chicken). $100+ for the dinner may be pushing it slightly, I've been to places with better food, but it is an all-you-can eat joint so that's something to consider. The salad bar had great choices. The Merlot I tried had a good deep taste, $9/glass I think; my wife had a glass of Moscato, which she thought was tasty but strong (she's a lightweight). I give it three stars because of the price. My thought is that if you constantly have to think of how much you spent at a place, then the food/experience wasn't worth it. When I go to Bahama Breeze up the street, $80 there is OK because I feel like I've received that much in taste, quantity, variety, and atmosphere. Here, I just feel like we got a bunch of meat in a fancy place. A few more notes: My situation may have been slightly different from others; my wife had been a couple of times with coworkers, and I'd never been before. She couldn't remember the pricing, but had "$25 per person" stuck in her head. She wasn't wrong (I've been married for 12 years, my wife is never wrong...*ahem*...), she just forgot to double the price. (Excuse me, I forgot to remind her to double the price...*ahem*...) The only thing we actually ordered were three glasses of wine (the medium priced stuff), and our total was around $115. It's not a bad thing if you expect it, just be informed before you go. A peculiar thing that happened, which my wife said happened when she came previously, is when we were looking for Picanha specifically and we'd turned down a few of the other meats, a head-meat-guy stopped by the table and asked what we were looking for. After we told him, his mouth said "Very good, thank you.", but it was like mentally he was saying "Picanha is not SERVED sir, it is requested. You will wait longer now.", because we didn't get it for another 5 minutes-ish after his visit. But I'm being the pampered American here, it wasn't that bad, just weird. The butter rolls are incredible when warm; small, light and fluffy, excellent butter taste and easy to pop into your mouth. Of all the meats we tried, the only two I kept coming back to were Picanha and Top Sirloin, the others didn't stand out significantly, tastewise. There were also fried banana (or plantains?), which were also very delicious when warm. I'd recommend visiting at least once, it's definitely worth a try.

    It's definitely more worthwhile to sign up for their email list and come with some sort of promotion/discount than to pay full price, but the meat is tasty and the variety allows everyone to find something they like. However, in comparison to other Brazilian steakhouses like Fogo de Chau, Gaucho is less impressive - salad bar variety, service, and ambiance (understandable given that they're located in Livonia, MI and not downtown Chicago). Overall, I'd come here if you have a 30% off and a red meat craving.

    I would rate this restaurant at closer to 3 1/2 stars. The pros to this restaurant is definitely the variety. This is an all you can eat joint with the main focus on the meat portion of the meal. Servers bring about 15 meats all prepared differently. You should be able to find something to your liking and you are not likely to leave hungry. The knock on this restaurant is the price. Expect atleast $35 per person. And we had a server that was quite the a$$ hole.

    We live approx. A mile from here so we decided to try it for lunch. Only $35.00 each at Lunch time. The service was OK and no wait at lunch, the meats were adequate at best and somewhat limited at lunchtime. My husband and I kept thanking our server in Spanish and the server finally corrected us and told us in Brazil, they speak Portuguese, (shame on us stupid Americans.) Anyway, the salad bar was OK but nothing special and there was no Risotto or garlic mashed spuds. I thought the meat was kind of blah and ask for some steak sauce and he brought me ketchup and A-1. We will not return, way over priced but I guess it's a novelty thing, if our friend's ask we steer them away, if possible.

    Among the best food that money can buy at a restaurant. The service was great, quick, and attentive. Drinks were never left half full. The food was so tantalizing, that I will dream of it for days. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and overall fantastic. The soup and rolls were superb as well. VERY worth the steep(ish) price you pay. I will definitely be returning on special occasions. Be careful not to fill up on soup and salad. The real prize is the MEAT!!

    If you love meat - I mean to the point of it almost being illegal - you'll love Gaucho's! My wife and I have been there three times, and look forward to going again. If you read the other reviews, you'll know that this place is a fixed priced menu (about $50 per person), and includes a salad bar, garlic mashed potatoes, cheese rolls, and fried bananas. All of this is secondary to the meat, which swirls around you on skewers, and is dispensed by fast moving servers. Most of the meat was great, but you have to like salt - there's lots of it. As my wife (Anna S.) stated, I felt the salad bar was a little pretentious, with lots of fancy (not always well-executed) stuff like ahi tuna and an enormous wheel of cheese. However, everyone will find something they like. The soup is part of the salad bar. I had butternut squash, then potato, and both were amazing, and I'm NOT a soup guy. The cheese rolls were pretty soft on texture, which is a downer. I loved the fried bananas, but be sure to eat them fresh, or they turn into squishy grease sticks. The service, which I value even more than the food at restaurants, was good. No complaints. Of course, a $50 meal isn't something I can do every week, as I am a notorious cheap-ass. However, I never even flinch when it comes to the cost of the "meat parade", as my wife calls it. It is totally worth it.

    An excellent experience for us, every time... but we're that table of regulars that the gauchos swarm with the tastiest morsels, making us feel like royalty (and you hate us). The meat is very flavorful, sliced at your table. My personal favorites are picanha, bacon-wrapped chicken breast and the shrimp. Top Sirloin, Bottom Sirloin and Filet are a roller coaster ride of OMG to hmm. Ken loves the leg of lamb, when it is fresh and has the most crusty outside, and he continues to get the beef ribs (which I think have little flavor). Fancy salad bar. I leave the bar with two spears of asparagus (perfectly cooked, still crunchy), 3 cucumber rounds with krab salad and avocado, a couple olives and cheese cubes. Ken's culled his salad plate to a couple cheese cubes plus some slivers of real parm (all of which he stuffs inside a couple of the highly addictive cheese bread rolls/mini popovers) and a small spoon of the mushroom risotto... and three more cucumber rounds for me (so I don't look like a pig!). Join their VIP club and you will get deals sent to your email (this is a price-y place, so any discount will definitely help).

    While I can't afford to go often, I absolutely love this place. The mushroom risotto is amazing as well as the fried bananas. I always get a caparinha? I hope I spelled that correctly. It is sort of like a mojito. Super yummy! My favorite cut of meat here is the Brazilian rump roast, it looks like a "C" on the sword. The filet and chicken are good too, I tend to stick to beef when I eat here, except for the beef ribs which are fatty and don't have a lot of flavor. My suggestions: Don't overdo it at the salad bar, save room for the avalanche of meat that is coming your way. They give you a disk that is green on one side for them to come over with the meat on swords and red on the other for them to leave you alone. Keep it flipped to green until you are totally done, that way you don't miss out on anything. Sign up for their email list so you can be notified when they have specials (which is often) Bring your kids! They are free if they are under 6 or 7 (I think?)! Take a walk afterwards to work off that food baby you just acquired!

    Wow! Didn't expect some bad or mediocre reviews on this place. Everyone I know that's been there loves this place...hmmmm??? My experience was totally delightful. The service, food, atmosphere was great. Even the waiter Gaucho outfits were authentic. My only real complaint was that it was a little unorganized. The first time we went no one really explained the process so we had to figure stuff out for ourselves. Not a big deal but I saw several other people asking the same questions we were - like, "What's this disc on the table for?" I recommend you go hungry! Lot of RED meat so if you do not love meat not a great place (Obviously! its a Steak House!) I was so stuffed when I left I actually did not eat another piece of red meat for two months afterwards (not kidding!). A little pricy (about $100 for a couple minimum) but a great experience. I personally could only go there once or twice a year or else I would never eat red meat again because they just keep it coming, sample after sample after sample...But again, overall, great everything.

    I really liked coming here but it is too spendy for my budget and not everything is totally awesome hence it is not a five star rating but a solid four. It is cheaper at lunch and they run good special prices periodically, join the e club and they will send you notifications. If you join, on your birthday they gift you a bottle of wine and a dessert, which is nice. We brought my parents here to try it out during one of their special priced nights, so at dinner it was thirty per person. Normally it runs around forty, you will get your money's worth if you are hungry and a big eater. The atmosphere here is nice, dressy casual type dress is adequate for here though. We came in and they took our coats and sat us immediately. They explained how everything worked and made sure we were comfortable. I really appreciated that. They have a salad, soup and appetizer bar. It has a variety of cheeses, meats such as prosciutto, smoked salmon and salami, and cold veggies like artichoke hearts, asparagus and hearts of palm. There are various cold salads, veggie, apple, potato and chicken type as well as leafy green options. They offer happy butternut squash soup, risotto and a really good tortellini in mushroom sauce too. You can go as often as you would like throughout the meal. Once you partake in that you can flip your special disk to green which means you are ready for meat to stop by. Red means no more please and helps when you are overloaded, remember this as you will indeed need to flip that disk more than once. They bring little bowls filled with excellent fried bananas, little cheese popover type breads and creamy mashed potatoes to accompany your meal, they will also supply white rice and black beans if you ask, which we did. If you run out of anything they will happily bring you more. The meat comes by so often you will feel overwhelmed. It is all on skewers served by gauchos aka meat cutting waiter types. They will serve you off their sword. Some of the meat is better than others, some cuts just more tender. I would tell you which but honestly it was a blur and I could not keep most of it straight. I will try to tell you what I do remember though. My husband was over the moon they have linguica, a portuguese sausage he adores. He also liked the chicken legs while I was a fan of the chicken breast wrapped in bacon instead. I also really like the filet wrapped in bacon. The lamb was hit or miss as one was good and the other meh. The pork was very good and while I liked the pork ribs, the beef ribs were a bit too fatty. The five or so different beef roasts, well I honestly couldn't keep track, some were a bit tough but all seemed to have good flavor. The good news is if you don't like something someone will be by in short order to give you something else. They kept our glasses and bowls full and I left stuffed to the gills. I liked that it was a unique to this area experience and that for the most part things had tasty flavors. I will definitely be back. Go hungry and take fellow carnivores. Try to find a deal for it online to make it cheaper but I highly recommend you do give it a try. It is fun and different.

    We had a terrible experience with the service! So much so we didn't even make it into the restaurant because they couldn't get our reservation right and were just downright rude to not only us, but the other customers! We called ahead earlier that day asking for a table for 4. We decided to get there 45 minutes early just to make sure that we could get in. When we walked in we walked into a complete mess. It took 10 minutes just to get to the desk to check in. After, when they called us for our table, they got the number of people wrong so asked us to wait. However, right after telling us that, they seated a party of 4 that had arrived after us. We asked to make sure that our reservation was still in the system (as we had the same buzzer) and they shooed us away. After waiting an hour, we decided to leave, especially since everyone had been seated but us. When we returned the buzzer they replied that they had been calling our party of 2 and that we never answered, which we responded that we had told them we were a party of 4, again. Then the hostess said "Well whatever, let them leave!" How incredibly rude. The hostesses were completely rude not only to us but other customers. When we walked in, they started yelling at a large party for staying too long, blaming them for setting them back in their reservations. The party was very angry and made it very uncomfortable for us waiting. Then, whenever a party wasn't there, the hostesses would get very huffy and yell "well, so and so I guess just got impatient!" If you want great service and great food try the Bahama Breeze down the street. We went there after the horrendous experience at Gaucho's. They got our reservation right and seated us within 5 minutes. We also had a wonderful server, who had heard the same horror stories. Bottom line: Service was AWFUL. They seriously need to reevaluate their business model. UPDATE: The business manager seems to think that I am ruining his reputation. I can guarantee you that this is not a rare occurrence, as the business manager has attacked anyone on this website with a negative review. Perhaps the manager is ruining his own reputation by treating customers as such. Also did you not read the part where I said that our buzzer never went off, they did not call our name, or got our party number right after THREE TIMES of telling them! To top it off, the rudeness of your hostess is inexcusable. This is your incompetence, not ours. You may have a four star review for your food, but stop acting like it's a defense for treating customers awfully, especially at the entrance! I suggest you take a business 101 class.

    It was pretty expensive and I don't eat thac eat so ehhh...... Its good if you really like meat though and pretty full place. Not sure what else to write about this place. There were like 6 of us who went and we all found different meats we really liked. Hrm..they came around pretty fast and gave us great portions. The salad bar was basically typical.

    Waiters strolling around with skewers of meat-what's not to love about that? I think this was easily the most expensive meal I've ever eaten, so what does that say about me? I'm cheap? Or I just don't treat myself to fancy dinners enough? I vote for the latter. (Take note boys, this girl doesn't expect 5 star dining all the time ;) Going in the evening gave us the luxury of shrimp and filet mignon, along with 13 other cuts of pretty much every animal you could think of. At one point, I think I had 4 different animals on my plate. Yes Noah, you are missing some of your Ark, it's in my belly. Salad bar was great, and while I would have loved to have gone up for seconds but didn't want to take up too much space for the epic meat-fest that was about to take place. The fried bananas that they brought were fantastic, and my dining companion and I were trying to figure out how a simple fried banana could be so damn delicious! Garlic mashed potatoes were alright, but again, I came here to eat meat, and eat meat I did! So much so that I had to (regretfully) turn my card over to let them know not to come back. Just for shits and giggles I weighed myself when I got home, 4 pounds heavier than the morning weigh in. Safe to say I got my $$$ worth. The meat is a bit on the salty side though, so stay hydrated (I woke up at 5:30am absolutely parched), the Caipirinha (the signature drink of Brazil) was fantastic as well. My only beef (no pun intended) with this experience was when our waiter came by our table after dinner to offer us an after-dinner aperitif and explained that this would help aid in digestion and since we had so much food to digest, we accepted the delicious (and near 70 proof) orange-y liquor served in a thimble size chocolate shot that we would eat after. And I unfortunately spilled a bit, which wouldn't have been a big deal, but after seeing the bill and seeing that these "shots" were $6 each, well the least he could have done was let us know it wasn't included with the dinner price. All in all, I loved this place, and while it is definitely a more special occasion type place (or at least not a place you want to go to weekly unless you truly do want to have a meat baby), and will definitely be going again.

    If you are Brazilian or familiar with Brazilian dining, you will probably be disappointed by this Churrascaria. The salad bar was very sparsely supplied with limited choices. The meat, service and staff were good, but the overall "atmosphere" was a bit cold and drinks were pricey. Other Brazilian steak houses provide much better examples of the Brazilian Churrasco experience. Spend your money elsewhere.

When we sat our waiter gave us the lowdown on how things work but never gave us a price for our meals. The salad bar was weak; I've had better buffet salad at a Pizza Hut. We asked our waiter for extra plates and they never arrived. The meat was over-salted, the filet was over-cooked. We waited for the shrimp to come back around since that was the best thing we ate and the next time it was horrible. How could it not taste the same? The fried bananas were the only thing I enjoyed, quite sad for a $43 meal. I won't ever be going back.

    This was a much anticipated visit as our attempt to go to Pampas was marked a FAIL as they went out of business. So after months of planning and coordination with friends schedules, tonight, we dined. I knew the prices going in so there was no sticker shock when we received the bill. $43.99 per person which includes the ample salad and sides bar. Most notably, I enjoyed the fresh asparagus and smoked salmon while others could not stop talking about the risotto, the fried bananas and the little basket of roles. There were soup selections, olives, prepared salads, cheese and even tortellini but alas, I came for meat. Before meat, I enjoyed a complimentary alcoholic beverage that I received for signing up for their email club. This was a sugar cane rum and lime concoction that packed a wallop that I thoroughly enjoyed. i could see lazy days ahead filled with sun, a hammock and a pitcher of these bad boys. I digress. Wasting little time on the salad bar, I promptly turned my disk to the green side which is like the waving of the green flag in NASCAR after the pace lap. All meat hell broke loose. Friendly servers flew all around me with swords of beef cuts, chicken, pork, lamb and shrimp. Even for a big appetite such as mine, it was overwhelming at times. Nothing was out of bounds: fillet mignon, sure; pork tenderloin, absolutely; grilled shrimp, bring it; sausage, why not? I felt like I was an active participant in a feeding frenzy on Shark Week. Keeping in mind that vast quantities of meat have to be prepared in advanced to satiate a dining room full of guests, it was just as I expected so I wasn't disappointed. Truth is, some meats were cooked just right and some were overcooked. It happens. The best offerings were the leg of lamb (which can easily be enjoyed medium/medium rare but served more medium well), the beef tenderloin, the sausage and the bottom round. The biggest disappointments came with grilled shrimp (which were consistently overcooked and rubbery), bone dry pork ribs (more like rib jerky) and the lamb chops (which too were passing well done.) Salt sensitive people beware: many of the items come marinated which you will feel later. Our table somehow managed room for dessert while my churasco coma was already being initiated. The lava cake, the chocolate mouse, and the peanut butter covered in chocolate ganache were huge hits. Our dinner "capitan" was TJ who ran a good show with the support staff being Johnny-on-the-spot with just about everything from removing soiled plates, water refills, and yes--meat. The decor is muted, neat and relaxing. We enjoyed a meal with great friends so the night was a success. The experience was without reservation-- fun. Would I go back? Probably not. I can now say that I've been here but for the price we could easily enjoy a first class meal at Shula's, Ruth Chris Steak House or even Roast downtown and enjoyed less meat selections but upgraded the overall quality.

    We came with colleagues for lunch, two of them brazilians Very disappointing. The salad buffet was very sparse, with no cold cut, just some basics salad. There was a point during the lunch when we waited almost 20 minutes without seeing a single gaucho. One of my friend wanted some beef rib and was told it would be a few minutes before a new slab is ready. When it came, he was given a piece of the previous one that looked like coal. After asking again, someone brought him a single piece in a plate. Service was bad and waiter looked overwhelmed. Choices were limited and we saw the chicken passing three times before seeing any other cut. In conclusion, I would not go back to gaucho, specially now that Texas do brazil has opened a place downtown.

    We went for lunch on Good Friday and they were busy but not swamped. The waiter that we had was snotty to us when we walked in a few minutes before our reservation which was at 11:30. We waited 10 minutes for him to come over to take our drink order and then another 20 minutes for him to bring them. Another waiter was wearing dirty pants. The salad bar was ok. The risotto was under cooked and the soup looked watery. Once the meat started coming out, it was hard to get the cuts that you wanted because they would start in the front and would run out before they would get to us. Instead of varying their paths to make sure they got to everyone, they would repeat the same path running out again before they would get to us. If they did make it us, we would have to flag the "gauchos" down because they would fly by us even though our cards were flipped to yes. The meat was ok. It was bland and under seasoned. This used to be a great place, I don't understand what happened.

    If you love meat, this is the place to go. The waiters were bringing so many skewers of meat around, it got to the point that I didn't know what was what. I thought the only thing that was sub par were the ribs, but ribs are hard to make to everyones liking. Some of the people I was with thought they were great. The salad bar was nice, but it was kinda weird eating cold asparagus and artichoke hearts. I didn't eat all that much in anticipation of all the meat. The fried bananas were surprisingly delicious, and the desserts were good as well(included in the price). I didn't pay for this dinner. If I had, maybe I would lean more towards four stars. A dinner for two with drinks will run you 125-150 with tip depending on how much you drink. While none of the meat was the best I had ever had, it was ALL good. Gauchos is a place I will probably go back to for a special occasion, and I would recommend everyone go at least once. It was a great dining experience, which is all you can really ask for.

    This review is of what they did to us on Valentines day. My boyfriend had never been here, but knows I love this place so he made reservations for valentine's day.. Well we get there and there is a line and they are handing out beepers and when we ask how long the wait it we are rudely told "we're not sure" wtf? We made reservations to not have to wait. whatever. 35 minutes later we are finally being led to our table that has a OH-SO-ROMANTIC "table 45" on it. They rearranged the restaurant and added double the tables in order to cash on in this holiday. So now we are sitting cafeteria style... im across from my boyfriend and the person to my left and right are closer to me than i am to my boyfriend.. it was awkward. Not intimate and not the normal ambiance that I'm used to. So aside from that, they clearly are not used to serving this many people at once.. all i really wanted was some filet, and had to request it to about 5 different workers before it finally made it to our table; the reason being that they would be coming down the aisle and before they reached us all the meat would be gone. Usually when I go here it's no issue and if you request something they have it to you in minutes flat. I seriously waited for 30 min for this one item. Ridiculous. I will never go there again on any form of a holiday. We'll stick to other higher priced restaurants that let you book a reservation without packing their restaurant up with spare folding tables in order to get as much money as possible.

    I go to Gaucho when I want to have endless amount of meat :) Lunch is $20 and dinner is $40 per person. For dinner, they only offer two more meat selection. Lunch is only served Mon to Fri. I have never been there for dinner, but I enjoyed my experience. If you go for the first time, I recommend you try everything at least once. This will help you formulate which selection of meat you'll like, so should you return or want others, you can skip out on the ones you don't like and only get the ones you like. Service is good, however if they are busy, be prepared to wait a little for your next meat selection. Stay away from the salad bar if you want to eat a lot.

    A carnivores dream come true! There are approximately 16 different types of meat that visit your table, so there are no lack of options. The salad bar goes well beyond iceberg lettuce and croutons, with alot of unique options (smoked salmon, real mozzarella, seasoned olives, etc). The bar has an amazing selection of top-shelf alcohol, beer and wine. Service is outstanding, with the only downside being that it is on the pricey side.

    The service and atmosphere were wonderful. All our needs were met and our server was very helpful explaining the process, history and overall lowdown of how it all worked. She was also very honest and helpful with helping my father order a glass of wine. She was not hesitant to say that while the Brazilians are known for many things, wine was not one of them. Ok, now on to the food. The salad bar was, as all Brazilian steak house salad bars are, very delicious. All the items were fresh and tasty. But, it is not wise to spend a lot of time consuming the goods from the bar, so onto the meat. I was really disappointed with the meat. All the usual suspects were there, on sticks, being served table side. I found most of the meat I choose to be overcooked and over seasoned. When I asked for rare meat, I was given medium meat. When asked for more rare meat I was given med-rare cuts. The lamb was burnt and over cooked as was the filet. I skipped the pork and chicken in favor of beef and was overwhelmed by the beef in garlic sauce. I am well aware that ordering beef in garlic will have some strong taste, but this just tasted bitter. At $50 dollars a person, I am not sure that I would be rushing back. You have to really bring your appetite in order to eat your moneys worth.

    My husband and I, along with four other guests were at this restaurant last night. We have visited many other Brazilian steakhouses throughout the country, and this was by far the worst. Hands down the very worst. The salad bar was small. Ruby Tuesday's has a better salad bar. Now on to the meat and service...oh wait, there was not meat or service. Literally. We sat for over two hours and waited for someone...anyone to come by. My husband had three small pieces of meat, two of which were raw, and then nothing. No one to fill our water, no one to bring us a drink, nothing to eat. We tried flagging people down to ask for meat...nope, no one came. We asked bussers if they could send someone by for meat, sorry, no go. We were hungry, so we decided to just go back and get some more salad. We spent $300 for salad. I would never go back and I would discourage anyone from wasting money on this place. Sorry, but this is one of the worst overall experiences we have had.

    Was very much looking forward to trying this place. Don't bother trying to make an on-line reservation as it really doesn't matter whether you have one or not. After waiting 30 minutes after our reservation time (and downsized our party by 2) we decided not to give them any more of our $$$ than the few cocktails we had while waiting. Very disappointed!

    I have tried countless Brazilian steakhouses, and this was my least favorite. The steak was either too well done or completely undercooked and seasoned. The salad bar was bland and the service was annoyingly slow. I really did not like this place. IF you do want to try it out, you might like it, but I just have high standards when it comes to this type of place. Usually, the empanadas are amazing, but these tasted like straight starch and oil I really did not enjoy this place. To boot, one of the people at my table got only salad bar, and getting our waitress to reflect this on the bill (which they offer salad bar only) was a chore that took 15 minutes. Not my first choice.

    I'm so glad I checked Yelp first, for a heads up on Gaucho. I also visited their website, joined the e-club and printed out a coupon for a free bottle of wine for our table, right from the website. Lesson here: Always do your homework before trying a new place. You'll never know what incentives you'll run into! Anyway, I went with very close friends who I'd call family-- for a nice, evening out. We had a blast! Tons of good food, good drink, laughs and meat. The interior and the atmosphere was nice. It was just really dark in some spots. Thankfully, we asked about the lighting over our heads and had some light shed on our table so we could see what we were eating. After listening to the rundown from our server on how the evening was supposed to work, we delved into the plentiful salad bar. The salad bar was nice, but it wasn't as elaborate and one-of-a-kind as I expected from the reviews I'd read. My favorites included the marinated mushroom caps, the spinach salad and the asparagus.. I did want to try a little bit of everything, though, so I did try a tiny sample of most items on the bar, save the pasta and soup. The risotto was okay, but it wasn't Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen Risotto. That's risotto I'm dying to try. Now, onto the meat. I certainly didn't try all varieties offered. I knew I wouldn't survive that. I did try the garlic steak, the bacon wrapped sirloin and chicken, the shrimp, the lamb and a couple other things. All was delicious. I didn't feel that overwhelmed by the gauchos coming around with the meat because I paid attention to my card and how I had it displayed. Plus, I could always just say "no thank you" when they even look my direction. I'd definitely recommend this place for a group of friends or a family outing or special occaision dinner. You'd have to give your attendees plenty of time to save, though -- but splurging on a good meal is always acceptable. It's pretty much ALL YOU CAN EAT. After the meal, we had an after dinner shot of Licor 43 served in a chocolate shot glass. The bottle was chilled in a citrus ice block, which was pretty cool to look at. The dessert tray was too hard to resist. I shared a piece of Tiramisu (my favorite), which was really tasty. I wouldn't run to this place every weekend, but definitely once a year or so. It's worth a shot. If you haven't been...GO! It's worth the money.

    It's a fun experience but the food is basically fine. A lot of the meat looks and tastes the same so try and find some that is rare or medium rare. Avoid the chicken. The salad bar has some tasty stuff but is clearly designed to snack and then move on. Service is good and since I took my teenage son we had a good time. Did not try deserts. It can be a crazy amount of food if you don't watch it The weird part was the customers. Maybe I am a spoiled Birmingham guy however this was not cheap 44 a person plus drinks. But there were people there wearing gym clothes(really) ratty jeans baseball hats and t shirts. It was just odd and detracted a little from the meal. Is it that hard to throw on a pair of khakis and take off your hat?

    Gaucho is a one trick pony. 15 meats - none of which stand out as great. A mediocre salad bar that is more of a diversion than anything else. Desserts that look like they're brought in, rather than made in house. Don't get me wrong, some of the meats taste very good, but others aren't good at all, and still others are more meh. Service is fine, maybe a bit pushy at times. Once the meat starts coming out, it's non-stop, which can be overwhelming at times. It's hard to get a good grasp on what you're eating if you don't listen very closely. The good: Garlic steak - big bold garlic flavor on a tender beef. Parmesan pork tenderloin - the cheese is like a crust with moist, juicy pork in the center. Bacon wrapped filet & Bacon wrapped chicken - not the best quality bacon, but the meats taste good & the bacon adds a nice saltiness. The decent: Filet mignon - filet should be served rare to medium rare. The lack of temperature choice here is annoying. You can't choose to have your steak rare. Sure, this is filet & if it's cooked medium or below, it's good. Medium it was, so it's fine. Baby back ribs - not much meat on these bones, but the flavor was nice & the char decent. Good salty, slightly spicy flavor. Linguica (Brazilian sausage) - bold, salty flavor with a touch of spice. Would've been part of the good, but I only tried, so I can't be sure. The bad: The salad bar - nothing special at all. A diversion to fill your belly prior to the meat coming out. Beef ribs - hunks of fat & sinewy meat with very little flavor. Rump roast - overcooked, tough, & under seasoned. Pudim - a flan dessert. Texture of scrambled eggs, tempered incorrectly. It's not made in house, but shouldn't have been served anyway. The bar & wine selection is quite good. Brazilian beers are available, including Xingu, which is a personal favorite. Lots of wine available by the bottle, not so much by the glass, but that is normal. Overall, the experience was fine. We had a good time & the food was OK. Glad I was able to eat there, but don't know if it is something I'd do again.

    Dear Morrissey, Last night I died of meat poisoning. No, really. Ok, I didn't. But I almost did. I thought of you and all those poor cows while I was carving into the soft cooked flesh of various lambs, chickens and...cows. I know you wouldn't like it here, not one bit. You might find the fried bananas delicious, but you'd note that they should have been plantains. You'd love the salad bar, but again, not enough vegetables. You would most likely have some soup, and help yourself to a few chunks of parmigiano reggiano. You probably would have raised your caipirinha glass and reminisced about your days in New York, and that dalliance which resulted in a few bad albums and two visits to a much better Brazilian churrascaria. You'd curse your lot in life and after another two caipirinhas fire the manager who sent you on this dismal midwest tour. Michigan? Pittsburgers are more friendly. I promise to make it up to you Morrissey. If you and Johnny patch things up, I will take you to Roast. XOXO, Sara

    Been here 5 times. If there was a Fogo de Chao (in Chicago) or similar in Michigan then Gaucho would get 3 stars. The fact that SE Michigan has a solid representation of a Brazilian Steakhouse similar to a typical (average) in Ipanema, Rio De Janeiro I have to applaud them. Worth the price for an occasion. If there is a meat you liked and want more and haven't seen it come around in a while then ask, they have always had it arrive in a short bit and it comes straight from the kitchen to your table first.

    This was my first Brazilian Steak house experience. I went with Joe Foodie. Holy protein Batmat! I starved myself all day and declined any bread or salad bar when I got here. Wonderful decision on my part. They started coming out every 2 minutes to serve us different meats from huge knives. We just different steaks, chicken, pork, etc for a straight hour without slowing down. They came out almost too fast but I guess that's better than too slow. It was probably 1/2 awesome and 1/2 meh. Some of the meats didn't have much seasoning and were overcooked. The best was the bacon wrapped filet pieces. I'm a sucker for bacon. The badly cooked meats were the lamb and the rump roast. Come here if you want to have an eating contest with your friends or grandparents. And don't fill up on bread and salad: That's for suckers.

    Poor service and most importantly very poor food. The salad bar was not fresh and basically straight out of the bag. The meats had no flavor, i.e. the shrimp was dry and had that strong bitter fish taste ( not marinated well), the garlic steak was old rotten meat soaked in a bath of garlic sauce for days to mask the rottenness, the lamb was not well marinated, which had that strong gamey lamb odor and taste and the list goes on. I've been to many brazilian chop houses and this by far the worst.

    If the prices were a little lower, I would give them 4 stars. I disagree with the complaints about the salad bar. Yes, it's smaller than some but everything was fresh and obviously not from bags, cans or boxes. The sushi was comparable to what I"ve had at local sushi restaurants. The service was excellent. The meats varied somewhat in quality. Several of them were salty; not inedible but a little saltier than I'd like. However, I had the best lamb chop EVER! The prime rib was very good but the leg of lamb was bloody rare. Another 5-10 minutes on the grill would have made it much better.

    Complaint number one: the menu does not include the price. This place is not cheap (expect to pay $70 a person if you have one drink each or a dessert), and they really should have something on the menu to tell you what it costs! That aside, the salad bar was pretty good, with mostly fresh ingredients. The asparagus was very nice, done in a different style that usual. The bread they brought to the table had a strange after-taste though, nothing like I ever had in Brazil! But the main reason to go is for the meat. They bring it around on skewers, and you can ask for them to cut off whatever you'd want to try. They have 13 kinds of meats available. The Brazilian sausage was good, as was the top sirloin. The filet wrapped in bacon was good (although the bacon was a tad undercooked). Some things were just fair; the chicken was dry, as were some of the steaks. Someone at my table asked for medium-well meat, and they were told "I'll brings some back for you". Unfortunately, they never returned. Three times. So service was okay, but not great. The quality of the meat varied. For $60 a person, I expected higher quality than what they brought. The timing was also inconsistent; sometimes you'd get flooded with 4 servers at a time, sometimes nobody showed for 10 minutes. Sometimes they'd bring an item out, go around the room, and never come by your way. I saw them carrying half a skewer of shrimp back into the kitchen, never having stopped by our table. Twice. If it was a new place, you could say the servers don't have a pattern down yet where they hit all the tables. But it was fairly early (5:30), and the place wasn't even half-full. So in other words, they don't train their servers very well. The people were friendly and nice, but for the same price I could have had MUCH better steak with much better service at other places. When we left, everyone at my table agreed that it felt like going to a buffet at a Las Vegas casino; everything looks great, but when you leave, you feel incredibly disappointed. For that reason, I'm afraid I have to give them just 2 stars. Okay food at a very high price just doesn't cut it.

    I ate here on a trip to Southfield. If I had never eaten at Fogo de Chao, Plataforma or Texas de Brazil, I would have been very impressed. Alas, I HAVE eaten at those other places. The meat was generally on the medium-well to well-done side. You really need to assert yourself that you want medium-rare or medium. Their po do queijo is ok, but doesn't hold a candle to Fogo's. It should be lightly crispy outside and a little gooey on the inside. All in all, the salad bar was tasty but uninspired. The Picanha was very good if you get a medium well piece. The bottom sirloin had a strange texture and was a little tough. The bacon-wrapped fillet, fillet mignon were nearly 4 star. The linguica sausages are OK.

    I'm a bit torn about Gaucho. Even by Brazilian steakhouse standards, their salad bar is awesome. All of the meats were good too. For the cost though, the service was slow and inattentive. I also wish that they offered a few dipping sauces (chimichuri, horseradish, etc) like other brazilian places do. If you sign up online, you can get a coupon for a free bottle of wine and dessert on your birthday. I'll make a return trip, but probably not until I have a solid coupon.

    I have eaten here about 4 times already, and I payed zero times. Yeah, I am that persuasive... If you don't know by now, it is a Brazilian steakhouse, where there are server with big skewers of a variety of meat to your table. They will keep coming until you flip a coin thing which will alert them that you no longer want more. Of course you can always flip it back over... and it will just keep coming. IT is a buffet with a salad bar/soup bar. Yes, It is expensive, but yes, it is delicious. If you don't like the cut they are giving you, ask for another one for your liking. I constantly ask for different cut of meat when there is one that I don't like. There is a small pamphlet by your table which will explain what type of meat they do serve. The more expensive meat such as Picanha, Filet, Alcatra (top Sirloin) etc do have less rotation then Pork/lamb/chicken/etc..etc.. They do prepare the meat a little saltier so you will keep constantly drinking water to make yourself full. You can always try all of them but try them in small portions and wait PATIENTLY for the good stuff. if they cut you a small piece, ask for another piece. Lunch is obviously much cheaper, but dinner have more cuts. They also have Guarana soda and their dessert is just KILLER! Never look into wine because you are here to taste the MEAT! Remember.. it is MEAT MEAT and MORE MEEEEAAATTTTTTTT. then you go home and figure why you stuff yourself.... with so much meat.

    Boy did I have such high hopes, I've been wanting to try a brazilian steakhouse for years, being from Chicago there are many out here, and figured it was a great place to take pops for Fathers Day. All I can say is it was a mediocre experience. Called hours ahead for reservations for six, come in and are told in a condesending manner, by the skinny anerexious host, that we only reserved a table for four. Don't tell my stepmom that...lets just say we got a table quickly. Proceeded to the table, got the run-down from the ever-absent waittress and off we go! The "salad bar" is as schizophrenic as I've ever seen. Lettuce for salad but really only tomatoes, croutons and dressing to put on it. A chicken salad that was horrible, potatoe salad that looked like it was from Krogers and some "crab salad" that was schlepped on some cucumber slices. Left a lot to be desired...but the cheese cubes, salami and olives were nice touches as an anti-pasto plate. On to the meat...once you turn over that cardboard dot it's a carnivore thunderdome. One after another coming to your table with a variety of meats to choose. The good: the lamb was tasty, the pork loin was moist, and the butt roast was delicious. Not sure how much salt was in the other varieties of meat but I LOVE salt and it was way to much for me. The Filet Mignon was overcooked and the sirloin wasn't tasty at all. Maybe I'm spoiled living in Chicago, but the $15 steaks at Tango Sur are far superior to these cuts and it's BYOB. Not to mention all the other good steakhouses out here. The meat here is mediocre at best and CERTAINLY not worth the $44 pricetag. Pops had a good time and the service was pretty good...they try to put on a good show, but next time I'll go to a steakhouse instead of getting an upscale Old Country Buffet experience on skewers.

    Professional staff and good atmosphere make for a nice experience. I was impressed by Gaucho, they definitely were very accommodating and most of the their food is wonderful. We called Sunday afternoon about 30 minutes before our party of 9 wanted to eat, and they took our reservation no problem. The decor is very nice, with chic waterfall walls. Our servers were informative and helpful, and the "gauchos" bringing the skewered meat to the table were all very professional and skilled. The food itself was overall excellent. The salad bar had some nifty items like smoked salmon, stuffed olives, crab and cucumber canapes, and mushroom risotto. The main event however were the meats. Their signature rump roast was a perfectly cooked medium rare. Bottom sirloin was delicious, and I ended up getting a big hunk of that. Their chicken legs, grilled shrimp and pork ribs were all very good, although a bit overpoweringly seasoned. I ended up burping up garlic seasoning all night. I was most impressed when the kids ordered lamb chops, and the maitre d' had the kitchen send out a special order of them first to our table before making the rounds to the other tables. That was a nice touch. Also very nice were the sides of garlic mashed potatoes and the basket of hot popovers that kept being refilled. In my opinion, you can skip the sides of fried plantains though. The only things I balked at a bit were the saltiness /garlicky-ness of some of the meats and the price tag. Without wine, it ran us about $40 per person, although the kids were only charged 1/2 price (though they ate as much as the adults!). Truly it was a glut of meat. But it was a birthday celebration and Superbowl day at that, and if you can't overeat for those particular events, when can you?

    i'm a big fan of the brazilian steakhouse model. this place was acceptable, but i'm not sure i would return - especially with texas de brazil opening downtown detroit in april. the salad bar was smaller than i am used to, but good - risotto stood out, the prosciutto and cheeses were good, etc. the meats were inexplicably cooked to almost well done. the bottom sirloin was nearly beef jerky. the 3 stars come from the salad bar, the service, and the couple of cuts that were cooked to about medium (the brazilian rump roast and the top sirloin.) i eventually kept my disk to 'green' just looking for those two. texas de brazil in chicago cooks everything to about medium rare, so hopefully that stays the same in april.

    O.k first let me say that I am not a huge meat eater....you wonder why then I went to a brazillian steakhouse? I had a gift certificate from an obviously carniverous relative from Christmas I needed to use and everyplace we called on Mother's Day was already booked. That said...if you are a very hungry meat eater you will like Gaucho. I liked the salad bar- it was not the usual greens, veggies and cottage cheese...There were 3 different types of greens to choose from as well as things like asparagus, prosciutto, mozzarella slices, marinated mushrooms, mushroom risitto (which was my favorite), and tortellini (which was my daughter's favorite) plus many more items. As soon as you sit down the men with meat start making their rounds (you have little coins that you either put yes side up or no side up if you are ready for another selection but I found half the time they didnt look at the coins and still asked if we wanted some). The meat was o.k a little on the well side for me (which made it all taste similar). After about the 4th or 5th serving the kids were saying "here he comes again"everytime they saw a (as we started calling them) "meat man". So here is my summary...don't take your kids-even though my youngest was free and my other child half off (which still was $22) they did not really enjoy the experience. The food was o.k and if you are a hungry meat eater than $44 per person doesnt seem like a lot for all you can eat (this includes everything but drink and dessert). Our waitress was friendly and attentive as seemed the other staff. The dining room was attractive with the wall of water and the cherry wood.....

    They don't tell you about pricing. Waitress told us about a great discount and how it is free but then charges us $20 to join a club in order to get a discount. They also include a 25% gratuity on your bill No matter how many people you have. Waitress also tells you she is bringing you your after dinner drink when she comes to the table if you don't ask about pricing you get charged an additional $6 for an ounce of liquor. Food was good, meat was salty.

    This food is very authentic. A bit pricey, however.. It was very tastey. The buffet had many choices and the meet that came around was very tender and seasoned perfectly. A great place to take a date.

    Wish I could give 4.5 stars. Loved the salad bar. But definitely don't fill up. Mostly all the meats we ate were delicious, the lamb was very....lamb-y though. I'm used to much better seasoning/marinade on it. We loved the garlic steak the most. The shrimp was meh. I would definitely return for LUNCH as it sounds like it's much more affordable than the dinner was.

    My dad and I visited this place when I came to visit him in Michigan. I thought it was wonderful. The salad bar was small and not that impressive, but I did find a few tasty things. The smoked salmon was good, and so were the potatoes. I had a capirinha, and it was fabulous. The meat was very good, and the service was prompt and friendly. It was pretty expensive, but you definitely get your money's worth here.

    I had been to a similar place in NYC last fall, and enjoyed it so my family and I tried this place. Price: OK value, if you consider the price includes soup, salad, sides served family style, and unlimited entree samplings. Kind of expensive to take the whole family. Flavor & prep quality: Not all, but too much, of what I had was dry and overcooked. Some of the meat was excellent, but it was not reliable. It didn't stop me from trying all 17 varieties they had, to the point of hurting myself. Salad bar had a nice variety of fully prepped salads (potato salad, chicken salad), smoked salmon, hors d'oeuvres, and all the regular green salad offerings and toppings - Everything was nice and fresh. Service: Very good. At least 3 different servers stopped by unobtrusively to see if we needed clean plates, refills, more side dishes, etc.

    The Filet Mignon and the mushroom risotto are amazing! I tried all of the meats except the pork dishes and the filet was, hands down, the best. If I ever return, my meal will just consist of the filet and risotto.

    Friends of mine took me here Friday night for a celebration. Overall the food was very tasty but we encountered a nasty problem, which the Manager did address. As others have mentioned, you pay one price to eat yourself almost to death. The salad bar has lettuce and dressing but also other more unique items. The marinated asparagus and mushrooms [two different dishes] were both firm and tasty. There was crab salad on rounds of cucumber, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, some chunks of cheeses, sliced salami and prosciutto, and other tasty treats. A few warming trays held some soups and an amazingly tasty mushroom risotto. In addition we were given for the table a bowl of mashed potatoes with a creamy topping, incredibly delicious fried bananas, and some black beans and rice. Gaucho has tile floors and maybe that helps it be a little more noisy. The place was fairly busy, which isn't a surprise for a Friday night, but we found it hard to hear each other sometimes. This was made a little more difficult by the table of noisy young men sitting at a table behind us. Mostly they were fine but occasionally would get a little rowdy. Each place at the table has, in addition to standard utensils, a small tongs [for grabbing sliced meat as it comes off of a roast] and a little disk. If your disk is turned to the red side the servers leave you be, but turn it green and they start coming over. Rump roast, bottom roast, leg of lamb, sausage, garlic-coated beef, something tasty wrapped in bacon, chicken legs and breast chunks, all were plentiful and incredibly tasty. But then we noticed something weird happening. I saw a server start our way with a stick with pork ribs woven onto it. As he neared our table he suddenly veered away and went instead to the table of rowdy men behind us. After serving them he walked away. I commented to my tablemates who had not seen it happen. About 5 minutes later we saw another server come by with two sticks of lamb chops. He headed our way but, again, swerved at the last minute to go to the table behind us. I pointed him out to the others and this time they saw it happen. Again, the server served that table and went away. A few minutes later a server came out with two sticks of giant prawns! They are not listed on the menu. Again he headed our way and then veered off to serve the people behind us, then leave. We were starting to get concerned. Then someone appeared with water to refill our glasses. He refilled one person's glass and then left it to go fill the glasses of the table behind us! We had to verbally call him back to get the rest of our glasses filled. At that point we knew this wasn't a fluke and asked for a manager. We were as polite as we could be given that we'd been denied some of the cooler treats available, and the manager was incredibly apologetic, saying that never should have happened and that while people can ask for specific items they shouldn't have to because it wasn't offered. Unfortunately by then my friends and I were full from all the meats we DID get, but he kindly offered to buy us desserts. That was very nice and appreciated, as we did not complain with the intention of getting anything for free. The manager wondered if the servers were preferring the table of gentlemen because they were so noisy they wanted them to leave [they were already eating when we sat and left a few minutes before us]. I wondered if it wasn't more that it wasn't some belief that a table of drinking young men would tip better than a table of women drinking soft drinks The desserts, by the way, are decadent. There was a rich, moist carrot cake, a peanut butter and chocolate cake, a chocolate lava cake, a chocolate mousse, a little key lime pie, and more. In the end I would not go back without a coupon -- you can sign up on their website to get coupons now and then -- but I would definitely go back.

    One piece of advice... if you have ever eaten at Fogo de Chau do not eat here. You will be disappointed. Overall the food was decent, but the quality just wasn't there for the price. Our waiter was MIA almost the whole time and brought us the wrong bottle of wine. If you have never been to a brazillian steakhouse, feel free to try it for the experience, and the go to Fogo de Chau for "what good looks like".

    Great lunch soot for the money. Be prepared to eat like a king. My only complaint is the size of the filet mignon. They are significantly smaller in size than when this place first opened up. Good place to hit once or twice a year with some friends.

    tried to speak to a manager regarding our wait times, blown off, since we had waited over 30 minutes for our reserved time, then we were told they weren't sure when we would be seated. Then told at least 30 minutes, we left after being met with nasty and unapologetic attitudes. There were numerous couples waiting at least 45 minutes over their reserved times, so i guess you can say we enjoyed talking the other couples. with another new option downtown, we will take our business elsewhere.

    I was really looking forward to eating here. The cheese rolls were disappointing, we make them regularly at home and ours are much better. The meats - 2 of them were excellent, a lot of them were over cooked and the gaucho didn't have any rare to med-rare to serve. Some of the meats were very salty. The chicken except for the thighs were way over cooked. The pork was cooked to leather. The first batch of leg of lamb was overcooked but they brought another leg around that had some rare meat on it. The restaurant tried to be accommodating to my "rare" eating friends. The salad bar was fantastic but you limit yourself for the meat experience. The service was at times excellent but than other times was very bad. We had 4 people at our table and sometimes they would only offer meat to 1-3 people and leave before everyone was served even when we had our card to "yes". They did that at least 5-6 times. It was not worth the price.

    I have been to Gaucho twice now, and both times the service and food was excellent. I am a big fan of the Churrascaria style restaurant and have been to them all over the country. The waiters are attentive without hovering. A couple tricks for people who are not too familiar with this style of place. Don't go near the end of the evening, you want to get there at least an hour and a half before closing. The reason is that the last half hour or so, they aren't putting as much meat on as they do earlier. Also, if they bring meat that is too well done for your taste, tell them you want a more rare piece, believe me they will be happy to oblige. This is a very good Churrascaria, especially for the area it serves.

    We made reservations over a week in advance for a party of 15 and waited over 1.5 hours after getting to the restaurant to be sat. The owner was extremely rude and made no apologies for the long wait. After being seated, we had no drink service for at least 10 minutes and had to ask the owner/manager to send someone over. At this point, it was late into the evening so they didn't bring out all of the meat selections. Extremely disappointing experience. We would not recommend and will not be returning.

    Yes, it's good. It may be a step below fogo, but it's solid. If you sign up for their VIP card you get 5 bucks off per visit and they send you better coupons every so often. The meat roulette is great and it's best on nights it's busy. They are extremely responsive to any requests. Their top meats are the picanha and the bottom sirloin. Request any of those medium rare and you're in for a treat. The pao de queijo is more fluffy than I like it. I like the cheese content to be higher, but it's still very good. They do a great job here, so if you like Brazilian BBQ, you should check it out.

    Gauchos vs. Texas de Brazil (review made after visiting two steakhouses five days apart) TIP: Don't eat for 8 hours prior to dining at ANY Brazilian Steakhouse! Unlimited meat is such an unhealthy yet glorious thing. I kept seeing reviews for Gauchos and Texas de Brazil and couldn't decide where to celebrate. I decided on Gauchos for my birthday because it was closer. Five days later, I attended a birthday dinner for another friend at Texas de Brazil. I seriously could become vegetarian now. Here are my notes, I hope it helps you with your decision! Good luck! Parking and Birthday Perks GAUCHOS - free private lot, free bottle of white or red wine and dessert (cheesecake, flan, ice cream) TDB -street parking $1/hour (bring change!) or $10 parking lot (email rewards & monthly specials) *Stronger Point: Gauchos parking is more convenient and their bottle of free cabernet and free dessert offer beats the $25 birthday discount from TDB. Ambiance and Service GAUCHOS - White table clothes in a dimly lit restaurant (Similar to J.Alexanders). The manager made his rounds to ensure everyone enjoyed their dining experience and asked if there were any particular cuts of meat we were still waiting for. It took about 2 hours for all the cuts of meat. I was waiting on the rack of lamb for over two hours and saw waiters give those cuts to the guests who were seated after us. We had to ask a few servers for lamb before we were finally served our cut. I felt like the carvers forgot our table. TDB - You know that feeling that you when you dine at an established restaurant chain at Orlando Studios? I felt like I was on vacation when I visited TDB. The décor blew me away. It was romantic and contemporary and provided such an exotic escapism. The carvers and waiters work harmoniously and the service was fast. All the cuts of meat were presented to our table within the hour. We visited TDB with a group of 14 friends, so we were very impressed at the fast service -especially since we sat in the back and behind a wall. I'm happy they didn't forget about us! *Stronger point: Texas de Brazil. Meat Apocolaypse GAUCHOS- My favorites were the rack of lamb and filet mignon. Most of the protein selections were prepared medium rare. However, the pork tenderloin cuts were super dry and gritty. You could tell that most guests weren't a big fan of anything outside of the beef or lamb. Although I loved the rack of lamb, I was not a fan of the leg of lamb. I got a cut on the outer leg that was slightly charred and I left it on my plate because it was dry and too tough. The carver noticed this but still rushed off to the next table. Overall, the experience was good but inconsistent and the complete menu took a two hours to come around. My husband and I sat in the back, and felt that the meat carvers forgot about us. I went to the salad bar a few times and our dirty plates kept littered the table. TDB- I got the salad bar, but 90% of our party ordered the meat. I couldn't do it. I still felt like I was digesting meat from 5 days ago. From what I saw, the garlic steak was a favorite. Most cuts were medium rare but I noticed a few were pretty rare. I'm sure my friends could have asked for less rarity if it really bothered them. I mean there was legit blood sitting in the center of a cut. No thank you... But everyone finished their selection. If there was a small piece of protein left on their plate, it was because they were going to explode. Our plates were cleared accordingly. I never came back to a dirty plate. As for the service of their carvers... The staff were very engaged with their customers. I heard one carver say "Oh, that actually had a bit of fat on that cut, would you like another?" *Stronger Point: Texas de Brazil for the amazing customer service and for shorter wait time for meat The Salad Bar GAUCHOS - The Ahi Tuna melts in your mouth. Like a dream. I could have just ate that as my salad bar! TDB- Cilantro lime shrimp that was already deveined and peeled, artichoke hearts, garlic infused olives, sushi and prosciutto, rice, bella mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, asparagus. **Stronger Point: TDB For a larger variety in salad bar and because the lobster bisque is on point. Gaucho's lobster bisque pales in comparison. Desserts Both restaurants have brilliant and savory desserts. A surprise hit was the Papaya Milkshake from TDB. (It's like a butter pecan milkshake with a peach color). DELICIOUS!!! Tied for dessert score. .. And all points considering, the winner is: Texas de Brazil!!! Although Gauchos is a few minutes from my apartment. I would rather drive out to Detroit and hunt for street parking for my next Brazilian Steakhouse experience.

    Has a variety of meats. My favorite is filet wrapped in bacon. Good selection of salad items bar, seared tuna was worth it for me. The steak, some were a bit salty. And hit miss on fatty pieces. I was ublucky. Got a couple of fatty pieces which I didnt enjoy. I thought the meat quality was good and tender. The service was ok, our waiter was mia, had to ask other servers for things . The other waiters were more helpful. But it is vday and its busy. I probably wouldnt come back here again (bc of the fatty meat & saltiness). I went to a texas de brazil in Chicago and enjoyed that experience alot more.

    On Friday night, I had occasion to be reintroduced to Gaucho's Steakhouse, and I have to say, I was extremely pleased. Brazilian steakhouses are a buffet experience with many foods to sample and try, but unlike the usual thing you may think of when you think 'buffet', this was a classy affair. All of the staff were kind, attentive, and accommodating. This is important with a Brazilian steakhouse, since the servers are constantly rotating the food options to your tables. And the food - okay, lets dish on food. The salad bar is a sampling of some charcuterie options, salads, and other small bites to whet your appetite. The salmon was a stand out with excellent flavor. The cheese selection was tasty and the veggies were fresh and enjoyable. The salad bar is also home to most of your sides for dinner. The mushroom risotto was especially good with a creamy flavor that complimented the earthiness of the mushrooms. The tortellini was perfectly al dente and tasty and it's sauce was more than just a one note white sauce - it had personality. The last item was a lobster bisque that, while not being as thick as some bisques I've had, was very tasty. I used some of my bread from the table to dip in it, which felt pretty decadent. As for the meats, they were all wonderful. The garlic steak was very garlicy as advertised, but complimented the meat instead of overwhelming it. The chicken was moist, usually a struggle not to dry it out when I've visited other churrascarias. It was also wrapped in bacon (a win in almost everyone's book). The sirloin was tender and the server was careful to make sure we sampled the doneness we preferred. The meat that did have fats were still very tender and - I don't know if you've ever had fat that was cooked to the point that it was almost like butter, but that's what was happening here. So good. And not too salty, also occasionally a struggle for Brazilian steakhouses. My husband said the pork tenderloin was the only thing he wouldn't rave about, but it was more that the seasoning was a little earthy for his pallet. We were very happy with our experience, and I must say, with my back to most of the restaurant, I would have never known the place was as busy and as full as it was. The food kept coming and we always had our waters refreshed. I look forward to heading out to Northville for another special 'meat date' in the future.

    My partner and I came here last night like tourists after seeing a sign in the Detroit airport. We showed up about (albeit rudely) 1/2 hour before closing. I had initially had some reservations when it took several minutes for someone to greet us, the place was empty and I saw the kitchen staff eyeball us with smirks (I know, I know, the were closing in a 1/2 hour). We were seated and then the fun began. We were told not to fill up too much on the salad bar because it was all about the meat. We were also asked whether we were familiar with Brazilian steakhouses (we were). The experience at Gaucho's is better than some we had experienced in Brazil and some better known chains. This is a family owned business. Here are the highlights: Staff - The waiters were very personable and took pride in the place where they worked. They also explained the cuts of meat. I also heard them carefully explaining the dessert choices (although they were a bit unfamiliar with some of the items they were describing). Notwithstanding the time that we arrived, the servers did not rush us and asked if there were particular cuts we wanted before the kitchen closed for the night. Nice touch. Salad Bar - OMG. Nicest Salad Bar Ever. As I said in the caption of my photo, I didn't do it justice. This really had some of the best options I have ever had state side. Salmon & Ahi Tuna? I thought I was in Hawaii, it was so fresh. This is Detroit? (I am sorry if this sounds snotty) I would think I would need to be on a coast for it to be this fresh. Jamon Iberico? This is what I got in Spain. Spinach salad? Nicely dressed. Shaved parmesan cheese. Mushroom risotto. Crab salad. Tortelloni like my mother used to make. Rolls - They aren't like the pao de queijo that you get in Brazil because Gaucho's makes their rolls with cornstarch instead of tapioca starch. I also don't think they use cheese. They are still very good. Meat - Because everyone comes for the meat (and fish). To be fair, because we came at the end of the night, some of the meat was cooked more than our liking such as the filet mignon. Other cuts were great such as picanha (prime cut), beef ribs, sausage and shrimp. I would definitely go back again. I think it is fairly priced. I am thankful though that it is not near my house. I would gain 50 lbs. if it were nearby!

    Went here with the hubby and some friends to celebrate a birthday. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was told there would be bacon-wrapped meat, so I was clearly up for trying it... The price is a bit steep, seeing as how you can't eat enough meat to add up to fifty bucks, but I can totally see it as a great place for a nice occasion. My husband and the other guys stuffed their faces until their stomachs hurt, and my friend and I just laughed, because men. There were even comments on having meat sweats and other meat jokes that won't be repeated here. We were among the younger people there, but we kept it classy enough so the staff and other customers couldn't hear our childish humor.

    I honestly don't care for this place at all. Today was my third time going. Every time I have gone I have been invited by other parties. I would NEVER choose to go here. The salad bar is always the same and the meat is usually so undercooked I feel like it's a health violation somewhere to serve it. Today I had them cut me off a piece of the rump roast, and it seriously was blue/purple. I didn't eat a single bite. It seems like they don't cook enough meat to deal with the amount of people coming in to eat, and they only put the meat back on to brown the outside (so maybe cooking another 5 mins). Heaven forbid having a business model that allows for proper cooking times. Also, the lamb does look greyish. If you have seen Bridesmaids you know what I am talking about. All but one of the girls get food poisoning and "the greyish lamb" from the Brazilian place is the main suspect. Speaking of! My second time going I came home and was violently sick. The culprit was probably the lime from my drink - can we say 'unsafe food prep'? The only reason I gave it two stars is because the dessert is usually really good and the only thing worth getting.

    I finally had the opportunity to try this place, and WOW I wasn't disappointed. Bring your appetite, because its a carnivores paradise. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service was a solid 8 out of 10. The selections of meats brought to your table was a 8 out of 10. Nice place for a couples night out, or a small to medium group or family gathering. Overall I will be visiting Gaucho Steakhouse again. I can't comment on price, because my meal was covered by someone else. I would assume $$$.

    Very unimpressed. 15 minutes to get a drink, I have not seen any food service to my table in over 20 minutes. I am not against dropping 200+ for dinner, I would recommend you never do it here. I have been to many churrascarias and this one... is not worth your time, or your money...
